Google Chrome has always been my first choice when it comes to browsers because it is fast, efficient and comes with handy extensions and web apps. Recently, I came across an excellent extension, Voice Search, which enables Google Chrome users to search the web speaking the keyword and it will search the item on the desired search engine. In order to use the extension, make sure your microphone is connected.

To use the voice feature, all you have to do is install the extension and a small microphone will appear right next to the address bar in Google Chrome.

Using the extension is really simple and straight forward. Just click on the microphone and a small popup will appear. Now hold click on the mic button and speak what you want to search.

You can customize the search engine as well by clicking on the drop down menu and selecting the website where you want to search the specific keyword.

You can even add custom websites and use them as search engine. To do that, right click on the icon and go to options. There you will see the list of default websites which you can search. Now, write the name and URL of the website you want to add and press Enter.

Voice Search is an excellent extension for Google Chrome which can really change the way we search the internet these days and can really save time as well.

There is no such feature in Google Chrome which allows users to manage their sessions so that they can be opened later. Today, we came across an excellent extension for Google Chrome, Session Manager, which enables users to manage their session in Google Chrome and open them quickly any time. The default option in Google Chrome only restores the last browsing session and if your browser suddenly crashes, you can lose all opened tabs.

With Session Manager, you can manage multiple browsing sessions, rename them, open or remove them anytime. First of all, download and install Session Manager. A small icon will appear right next to the address bar along with other installed extensions.

Click on the Session Manager icon and it will automatically save the current opened session. Just rename the session and click Save. You can later open this session by clicking on the Open button for that session.

Session Manager is a really useful extension for Google Chrome which can really save your time so that you don’t have to open all the tabs again and again.

Since the original Motorola Cliq is no longer available at T-Mobile USA, Motorola announced at the CES 2011 the new CLIQ 2 with MOTOBLUR Android smartphone for T-Mobile. The Motorola Cliq also known as the Begonia, has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard showing an interesting honeycomb-like design.

Powered by 1GHz processor, the phone gets 512MB of RAM and 1GB of ROM. Also Motorola Cliq 2 has a 3.7-inch, 854×480 screen, Wi-Fi 802.11n with Wi-Fi calling, Android 2.2 OS, Bluetooth and 3G on T-Mobile’s network. The CLIQ 2 has a 5 Megapixel camera with auto focus and dual LED flash, FM tuner, aGPS/GPS support, eCompass, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity.

The Moto Cliq 2 brings many improvements when compared to the original model. Motorola says the Cliq 2 will be available on June 19th to T-Mobile customers.

All powered by the Intel Core i7 2630QM quad-core processor, which in this case, supported up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM. The maximum capacity of 640 GB models of 15.6 inches and 750 GB on the 7750G, plus a DVD burner and a Blu-ray, respectively.

The NVIDIA GeForce with 540, are optional, such as the GPU integrated into the main processor. 540 GT is only available for the 15.6-inch Aspire 5750 and 5750G, as the Aspire 7750G offers 17.3 inches, instead, either the 6550 or Radeon HD 6650 graphics. The starting price of the Aspire 5750 and 5750G is $ 900, while the 7750G starts at $ 1,030.

Today rising internet users are facing a lot of problems because of hackers around the world. Malware and virus is most common cause for infecting computers these days. Fixing malware infestations can be very complex and time unbearable. Many “malware ailments” are “hidden” in the computer’s most “critical” sections. Any mistake can cause permanent damage. To prevent from these types of problems use the wise way would be use “web proxy” which is “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Web proxy is a program that allows users to browse the Web while keeping their identity a secret. By using a proxy, users can prevent third parties such as children, parents and employers from investigative their browsing history, while at the same time surfing the Web in nearly its entirety. Even it can obstruct hacker attempts to steal personal data.

When internet user visits a web proxy site such as Proxy.org, The user then enters the URL of the website he wants to visit into the proxy website’s search bar. That website is then displayed to the user. Since the proxy website made the request, the users own information (computer name, IP address, location, etc.) is not displayed. Thus, the user can surf anonymously. Here web proxy performs internet object cache function by storing requested internet objects, i.e., data available via HTTP and FTP protocols on a system poisoned closer to the recipient than the site the data is originated from. Here closer means increased path reliability speed or both. Web browsers can then use the local proxy cache to speed up access and external reduce bandwidth utilization. When setting up web proxy, make sure it serves only your clients, and is not misused as relay. Some web proxies block JavaScript and “referrers” (identifies a visitor’s origin) to establish secure surfing. A web proxy can unblock websites and bypass filters. It allows you to secure you privacy such as you IP address but also give you access to certain places that may have been block to your networks. With the help of a proxy you will able to unblock those websites that have been blocked with your network’s provider, as this will enable you to surf the internet using another server with another IP address.

There are a number of different web proxy anonymity levels. Higher levels use “cloaked” and “encrypted” techniques – encoding the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) and establishing Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Access to provide for safe web surfing. A web proxy is undetectable; use hidden identification to send anonymous e-mails.

The online criminals are very much competent of installing proxies. Of course the purpose is to snoop upon the dataflow between the client machine and the web. The proxy operator can imprison and examine all the accessed pages as well as submitted forms so once if an unauthorized proxy has been detected the password of all the online services such as webmail, banking etc, should immediately be changed.

Protect your privacy. Make sure that your web activities cannot be tracked. Use a web proxy so that you can weaken into web traffic and not be inimitably recognized. Malware cannot assault you, if it cannot locate you.

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is a free antivirus software product created by Microsoft that provides protection against different types of malware such as spyware, computer virus  root kits and Trojan horses for windows 7, vista and XP(both x86 and x64). Microsoft Security Essentials replaces windows live OneCare, a commercial subscription-based antivirus service and the free windows defender, which only protected users from adware and spyware. But MSE has great features including on-demand scanning and removal tool engines.

Microsoft Security Essentials has one of the simplest and clearest GUIs we’ve seen for an antimalware solution.  When something is wrong, MSE makes sure users know they’ll need to take action, with red-color highlighting across the UI and via a red taskbar icon.  Even it updates itself very quietly in the background. In fact, never once troubled by its updating system; the only prompts we received were when the application actually needed our attention, like when it detected a threat that needed to be cleaned.  The company includes three features in MSE to keep it light: CPU throttling (the system will remain responsive to the user’s tasks), idle-time scanning (scans and updates use a low-priority thread and only run when the PC is idle), and smart caching and active memory swapping (virus signatures not in use are not loaded into memory. Let’s see how to use MSE to stay protected.

1. Download Microsoft security essential from the website (http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/).
2. Install the application normally and allow it to check for updates, and run its initial quick scan on the infected computer.
3. While the scan is running, the real-time protection module by MSE should detect active malware. Active malware are malicious files that have loaded in Windows with or without a graphical user interface, before the antivirus program was installed.
4. Then proceed in removing the detected threats. It’s not required to stop the scan when the on-access scanner finds and removes active malware.
5. After removing the risks and the active malware the application will be shutdown because MSE can end the task of malicious processes.
6. Allow MSE to restart the computer and then run a quick scan to look for any additional active malware.
7. The on-demand scanner will now start checking the computer for malware that is residing and actively running in Windows. And if it finds more malware, the clean-up option will be available.
8. Never stop running a scan until MSE displays a message that the computer is now clean

The default action of Microsoft Security Essentials in handing malware infection depends on the risk rating and type of infection. If it’s severe, a remove option is recommended. Depending on user if the file is not very essential for you then remove and quarantine is recommended. If the malware is spiteful that is preventing antivirus software to be installed or run, you should try using other antivirus or on-demand malware scanners in cleaning an infected computer.

Although MSE might not swank as many features as OneCare did, it is a lot better at what it does do. It’s free, and it requires no registration, trial versions. It really does automatically stay up-to-date. Most core functions can be activated with a single click. It’s recommended using an on-demand or online scanner, in addition to using an antivirus scanner to verify the health status of the computer.

Gigabyte just released two notebooks based on an Intel 2nd Generation Core Sandy Bridge processor, the Gigabyte Q2432A and the Gigabyte Q2532N. The Gigabyte Q2432A notebook is sports a 14-inch LED-backlit display with a native resolution of 1366×768 pixels and the Radeon HD 6730M graphics card (1GB of memory), plus a 6-cell battery while Gigabyte Q2532N notebook is offer a 8-cell battery.


The Gigabyte Q2532N laptop packs a 15.6-inch LED-backlit screen with 1366 x 768 resolution, and 1GB GeForce GT 540M graphics card. Both of them equipped with 1GB/2GB of RAM, 320GB/500GB/640GB/750GB hard drive, and DVD burner.

Motorola Android Tablet known as Droid Xoom now running Google Android HoneyComb operating system and will be headed to Verizon in Q1 2011. It has 10.1-inch touchscreen display with 1280 x 800 resolution, 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with 720p video recording and dual LED Flash.

The touchscreen of the device can be virtually split into two which would enable users to view two different apps side-by-side on the same touchscreen canvas. This tablet maybe coming with 4G LTE built in, but rather, hopes are that it will have available USB ports for 4G sticks instead.

Motorola Droid Xoom is boasts a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 32GB of onboard storage. A DLNA app for wireless media streaming is also included, and there’s a HDMI output for pumping 1080p video to a flatscreen. For those who like to abuse their electronics (and still have them working afterward), DRS is providing a dream come true. Their recently announced seven-inch rugged tablet, the X7, would definitely survive longer in the wilderness than I would. With supposedly nine hours of battery life (between two hot-swappable batteries), it will offer significantly more operating time than previous Armor models, and be able to take more punishment on a single charge.


Toughness Specs
The Armor X10gx had similar specs in terms of durability to the X7. Both can operate in -4 to 140 F degree temperatures, handle altitudes of 20,000ft, and have the same qualifications for use in hazardous locations (for those of you who may work in hazardous locations, and can understand these specs: ISAFE: UL 1604 Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D; CSA C22.2 No. 213-M1987; EN60079-0, EN60079-15:2005 (ATEX), ESD 22 kV). So check out that link if you want to see how a relatively comparable Armor machine held up to our tests.

Additionally, the X7 can handle drops of six feet, earned an IP65 rating for ingress protection (meaning it's resistant to dust and moisture), and received a 514.5 score for handling vibration when tested to military standards (Procedure I, Category 3, MIL-STD-810F).


Other Specs

The Pocket eDGe is a mini Android-based tablet computer with two screens, one 6-inch eInk eBook screen and one 7-inch color LCD touchscreen. It includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless networking, 3 GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, a USB port, microphone, headphone jack, and speakers. It is now available for $399.


BUILD & DESIGN:
When closed, the Pocket eDGe looks like a miniature laptop computer. It isn't until you open the device that you see how unique it is, with an eInk screen on one side and a color touchscreen LCD display on the other. The screens face each other like the facing pages of a book. The hinge is sturdy and allows you to open the Pocket eDGe like a traditional laptop, bend the screen back so that the device can be propped up like a greeting card, or fold it all the way back so that you can only see one of the two screens.

The overall device measures 7.5-inches by 5.5-inches, and is only one inch thick. It feels bigger than that though, especially in the thickness department--but perhaps I've gotten spoiled by my iPad. At 1.35 pounds the Pocket eDGe has a good weight to it, but it isn't too heavy. You won't be sticking it in your pocket, though it should fit easily into gear bags or even larger purses.

Display
The LCD is bright and colorful, and of good quality. It is very responsive to my touch and a pleasant surprise, considering my recent experience with the Pantech Novel tablet. You can use the included stylus if you like, but it isn't strictly necessary on the tablet side of Pocket eDGe.

The eInk display is crisp, with very good contrast, but is much less responsive than the LCD. You have to use the stylus with the eInk screen--that isn't a problem in itself, but unfortunately the eInk screen isn't anywhere near as responsive as the LCD screen. You have to wait for it to update and I found the experience to be rather frustrating because I often had to tap in the same place a couple of times in order to get my input registered. It's no big deal if you're planning to just read with the eInk screen, but if you're planning to do a great deal of annotation it could be a real problem.


Keyboard
The Pocket eDGe does not have a physical keyboard, instead relying on a virtual keyboard. It works, but you won't want to do very much text entry on this device. If you try to type too fast, the device can't keep up with you, forcing you to go back and re-enter the text more slowly.

Since the screen orientation can be changed at the touch of a button, it would be best to use the keyboard in landscape mode so that the virtual keys won't be squished so closely together. The portrait mode keyboard makes me much more prone to errors because the keys are so tiny.

It is possible to connect a USB keyboard to the Pocket eDGe to enable faster text entry, though I wasn't able to test this feature because I don't have a USB keyboard.


Other Buttons & Controls
The power button, microSD card slot, volume control, headphone jack, and charging port are located under the eInk screen, while the USB port, mini USB sync jack, and the reset button are on the top of the eInk screen.

The buttons next to each screen serve as the main controls; you will find page forward and back buttons and the search key next to the eInk screen, while the menu, home, back, and screen orientation keys are next to the LCD screen.

Though HP was expected to finally unveil its webOS devices at CES 2011, it seems that it decided it doesn't need a big stage like CES to reveal its long-rumored webOS tablet. Instead, the company has since revealed that it will hold an event on February 9, one which will most likely be used as a platform to announce the webOS tablet from HP.

"On February 9, we [will] have a broad public set of announcements about the future of webOS and the breadth of products that it will enable," said HP Personal System Group Executive VP Todd Bradley during an interview with CNBC.

When Bradley was asked about how the company intends to compete with the Apple iPad, he responded, "You and I will talk about that on February 9," all but confirming HP's webOS tablet.

Though the event on February 9th could feature the first official announcement of a webOS tablet from HP, it did mention its intentions to develop one when the company acquired Palm for $1.2 billion in April of 2010. The motivating factor behind that acquisition, said Bradley, was webOS, something that HP believes is far more than just a smartphone OS.

There are few specifics about the webOS tablet that are currently known, but on July 9th of last year, HP filed a trademark for the term 'PalmPad', which has since led to speculation that this will be the name of the device.

As previously reported, the PalmPad will have WiMAX support, running on Sprint's 4G network. Other features include a mini-HDMI port, USB 3.0 port, a "multi-switch" like the Palm Pre, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing and a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera and two LED flashes. Reportedly thinner than an iPad, the PalmPad will weigh 1.25 pounds and will have rounded edges, akin to the Kindle.

LogMeIn Inc. is releasing an Android optimized version of their remote access application, LogMeIn Ignition. The application now allows users to remotely access their PC or Mac using their Android tablet, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab, or smartphone via an internet connection.

The new version of Ignition will have, aside from tablet support, three new features that LogMeIn is highlighting:

• Wake-on-LAN: Users can "wake up" sleeping computers using their device, meaning they don't have to leave their PC on all day to gain remote access.
• Remote sound: Android devices will now have access to remote sound from their PC.
• Multi-monitor switching: While remotely accessing their computers, users can use a three-finger swipe to switch between monitors on the accessed device.

Any current Ignition users can freely gain access to these with an update. Customers looking to buy Ignition can get it from either the Google Android market or Verizon V Cast market for a one-time charge of $29.99.

One more tablet will be joining the wealth of 4G LTE-enabled devices that Verizon unveiled at this year's CES: the Cisco Cius.


An Android 2.2 (Froyo) tablet designed primarily for business use, the Cius joins the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Motorola Xoom as the only tablets that will be compatible with Verizon's high-speed data network. The other 4G LTE products that Verizon intends to release later this year include four smartphones, two notebooks, and two mobile hotspot devices.

With a 7-inch touchscreen display, the Cius features a 720p high definition, front-facing camera and a single button for Telepresence interoperability. In addition to its 4G capabilities, the Cius will have Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.

The Cius, which was initially announced in June of last year, can be also docked in the optional HD audio station, which sports a telephone handset speakerphone, HD DisplayPort, and USB ports.
General availability of the Cisco Cius is expected to begin in Q1 of 2011.

Google has announced the new Nexus S phone, which is manufactured by Samsung and based on the popular Samsung Galaxy S smartphone. The Nexus S will have some cool features when it's released on December 16th, including the latest Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” operating system, a front facing VGA camera and rear facing 5 megapixel camera with a flash, a 4” Super AMOLED 480×800 touchscreen Contour Display, a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 16GB of internal memory, Google Mobile services, and near field communication (NFC) short-range wireless technology. The Nexus S can read NFC tags on objects like movie posters, stickers and t-shirts, and provide information on the item right on the phone.

Google also announced that over 200,000 Android devices are activated worldwide everyday, and that developers can now get their hands on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread SDK/NDK. Android 2.3 is said to also offer user interface refinements, a new keyboard and text selection tool, Internet (VoIP/SIP) calling, improved copy/paste functionality and gyroscope sensor support.

Customers can buy a Nexus S starting on December 16th at Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores in the U.S. unlocked for $529 or from T-Mobile for $199 with a two-year service agreement and qualifying voice and data plan. In the U.K., the Nexus S will be available at Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy stores on December 20th.
