Intel continues to assert that its chips will soon have a greater presence in tablets, and we may be seeing some proof of that come May 31, in the form of 10 new devices.



Looking to loosen competitor ARM Holdings' chokehold on tablet chips, Intel announced that it has plans to reveal 10 new tablets featuring its processors at the Computex show in Taipei, Taiwan at the end of this month. The new devices will feature Intel's latest chip -- the Atom Z670, an x86 architecture chip previously revealed as part of the Oak Trail line -- which is supposedly low-power and designed specifically with tablets in mind.

Even with the chips finally making an appearance in tablets, dealing with the competition is going to be a challenge for Intel, as it's coming to the game extremely late. Technology from ARM Holdings has since been adopted by big names such as Nvidia, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments and is featured in a number of currently available devices.

In the meantime, Intel has been promising since last year that it will be getting in on the game, only to continuously delay its push into the market. But, should everything go according to schedule, tablets sporting the Z670 will begin to roll out over the course of the second half of 2011, shortly after their debut at Computex.
